What is Topcho pet insurance?

Topcho pet insurance helps reimburse eligible veterinary and pharmaceutical expenses if your dog or cat becomes ill or has an accident. Depending on the option you choose, it can also include reimbursement for certain preventive care expenses.

How does Topcho pet insurance work?

Get a quote in just a few clicks, choose the plan that fits your pet, visit your vet when care is needed, submit your claim online, and get reimbursed quickly based on your selected coverage.

Which pets can be insured?

Topcho pet insurance is available for dogs and cats aged over 2 months and under 9 years at the time of membership. The pet must belong to the insured member and be listed on the membership certificate.

What plans are available?

Topcho offers three plans: Topcho Essential, Topcho Plus and Topcho Premium. Each plan includes accident and illness cover, with different reimbursement rates and annual limits.

What reimbursement rates does Topcho offer?

Topcho Essential reimburses 60% of eligible expenses up to €1,000 per year. Topcho Plus reimburses 80% up to €2,000 per year. Topcho Premium reimburses 80% or 100%, depending on your pet’s age at membership, up to €3,000 per year.

What veterinary expenses are covered?

Depending on your plan, eligible expenses may include veterinary consultations, prescribed care and medicines, laboratory tests, X-rays, ultrasound, CT scans, MRI exams, hospitalisation, surgery, anaesthesia, clinic stay expenses, and animal ambulance in the event of covered illness or accident.

Can I choose my own vet?

Yes. You are free to choose the veterinarian or veterinary clinic you prefer, as long as the care is provided by a qualified veterinarian.

Is preventive care included?

Preventive care is available as an optional package with all Topcho plans. It can help reimburse everyday wellness care such as vaccines, deworming, antiparasitic treatments, dental scaling, annual check-ups, sterilisation or castration, and selected complementary therapies.

How much preventive care can be reimbursed?

Depending on the selected option, the Prevention package can cover up to €100 or €200 per insurance year. Sterilisation expenses are limited to €100 per membership.

Are accidents and illnesses covered?

Yes. All three Topcho plans cover both accidents and illnesses, subject to the selected plan, waiting periods, annual limits, and exclusions.

When does my cover start?

Your membership begins on the date stated in your membership certificate. Accident and illness cover applies after the relevant waiting periods, while preventive care cover starts in line with your membership terms.

What are the waiting periods?

The waiting period is 2 clear days for accidents, 45 clear days for illness, and 120 clear days for hospitalisation, surgery following illness, cruciate ligament rupture, herniated disc or disc disease.

Are pre-existing conditions covered?

No. Illnesses or accidents that happened, were noticed, or showed symptoms before your membership started are not covered. Conditions that first show symptoms during the waiting period are also excluded, even after the waiting period has ended.

How do I submit a claim?

You can submit a claim through myTopcho or by email. Claims must be declared within 5 days after you become aware of the event.

What documents do I need for a claim?

For accident or illness claims, you may need to provide a completed treatment sheet, the paid veterinary invoice, proof of payment, the prescription where applicable, and proof of preventive vaccination for certain diseases. For preventive care, you need the paid invoice and proof of payment.

How quickly will I be reimbursed?

Once all required documents are received and approved, eligible reimbursements are paid in euros within 5 working days — with 90% of approved claims reimbursed within 24 hours.

What is not covered?

Main exclusions include pre-existing illnesses or accidents, congenital, genetic or hereditary conditions, behavioural disorders, negligence or intentional fault, professional breeding, animals used in professional activity, and expenses not linked to the declared condition. Some preventive treatments are only covered if the Prevention package has been selected.

Are vaccines covered?

Vaccines are covered under the optional Prevention package. Some illnesses are only eligible for cover if the required preventive vaccination has been administered.

Is my pet covered abroad?

Claims are covered worldwide, but reimbursement is made in France and in euros.

How long does the contract last?

Membership lasts for one year and renews automatically each year unless terminated under the conditions set out in the contract.

Can I cancel my membership?

You may withdraw within 14 days after the effective date of membership, subject to the contract terms. After the first year, termination may be requested according to the cancellation conditions set out in the contract.

How is the price calculated?

The premium depends on the selected plan, your pet’s age, and your pet’s breed. The amount is shown in the membership certificate.

Can the premium change over time?

Your premium may change over time. However, no price increase will apply during the first twelve months of your contract, which is your initial commitment period with Topcho. We will always notify you of any price change at least one month before your policy renewal. If you do not wish to accept the new premium, you may cancel your contract before the renewal date.

What happens if I already have another pet insurance policy?

If you have multiple insurance policies covering the same risk, you must inform the insurer. In the event of a claim, each policy applies within its own limits, but you cannot receive two reimbursements for the same claim.
